This was the first model of the Past Recoil shield that I bought and as a handloader and one that enjoys old army rifles, it is worth its weight in gold. 7.5x55 K31 Swiss carbine is a kicker from the bench position and so is 7.62x 54 Mosin carbine. This shield allows me to fire 200+ full power rounds in one setting and in the morning, no bruises/no stiff shoulder! Being just a half an inch thick, it doesn’t create any length of pull issues, or feel awkward to use...I swear by the PAST recoil products.

If you shoot high power rifle, you should use this shield. I recommend it even to macho guys.

Really tamed the recoil of my ultra mag. My groups were never tighter.

An outstanding performer. Normally the 30-06 does not bother me to shoot, but a customer's lightweight sporter was brutal. I put on the Magnum and was able to finish load development and zeroing without a trip to the ER.

This is an AWESOME product! But it took me awhile to realize how effective it was cause I thought I would look like a wimp, BUT it sure did reduce my group size!!! I thouhgt I had pretty good control but obviously was still anticipating recoil & once I started using this shield regularly the difference was astounding. The recoil pad really does make a major difference & even my stoutest (30-06 Garand & 7.62X54R) were tamed.. I felt NOTHING! As a result my shooting improved greatly! Get one NOW! Great for small people & females too. You will NOT be disappointed...

Shooting my Mosin Nagant M44 and M1891 always hurt after about 25 rounds. I would flinch after about 10 rounds anticipating the pounding in my shoulder that these rifles would make. The PAST recoil shield is fantastic! At the range last weekend I shot 50 rounds before quitting. I stopped because I ran out of ammunition, not because of self inflicted pain! I shoot left handed so the shield looks a little funky inside out on my left shoulder, however, that does not bother me at all! Terry, Albuquerque

Wearing this I was able to shoot 30 rounds of .300 Win Mag/180gr lying prone with no pain or soreness. That was certainly not possible shooting without this pad. Mine did not come with the "extra" strap mentioned by another reviewer, so I had to pull the pad up before each shot, thus only 4*. This would probably not be an issue shooting from a bench. I will probably add an elastic strap in back to my belt for prone shooting.

The thing does what it is advertised to do. The only fault that I found was that the directions on how to put the thing on are less than clear. One of the previous 'ratings' said that he had to continually adjust the pad. Past must have addressed this problem with the addition of a strap that I finally figured out is supposed to wrap around your belt to keep it from slipping down! A picture on the package would have been worth the proverbial "1000 words"!
