This product is fantastic. It's easy to operate and a great tool in developing solid handloads. It's also a big help in developing an accurate drop chart. It gives you a good start in your come up values and helps you use a ballistics calculator to its fullest. GREAT product. Thanks for offering it Midway.

Noticed some lower ratings for this item.. Here's some documentation for anyone that doesn't understand it.. Shoot straight and level over the top of the sensors. Works great. Don't shoot the chrony.. that happened to mine with a .45, I had to tape the wires back together, the metal shield deflected the bullet and it still works fine. If you want deviations and all that, plug in a stripped wire from a small phono jack, and cross the wires (or hook up a fancy switch) and step through the features. Excellant product for the price. Takes a beatin' and keeps working flawlessly.

I just rec'd my F1 Master and used it to on a .177 pellet, 22 LR, .223, 9mm hand load. 9mm factory, 40 S&W factory and (2) different handloads - Every one registered - no errors. Like a previous reviewer stated - "I really don't know why I waited so long". I now have the tool to validate the velocity of my loads and will be adjusting my 40 S&W Speer Short reload. Highly recommended. Thanks Midway for a great product at a very reasonable price.

Best spent chrono dollar you can make. Works every bit as good as more expensive chronos. I have shot hundreds of rounds over mine and it has never failed to get a reading. Everything needed is included, easy to set up, easy to operate. NO problems.

I have shot literally hundreds of rounds over this Chrony by now from .22 rimfire, 22-250, .223, S&W 500 Magnum and a friend's Armalite 50BMG. I have not experienced the complaints other reviewers have stated. I must admit, I am adamant about reading and following directions. I did make certain that the distance from the muzzle is (measured) 10' for the small caliber rifles and the 500 Magnum. The 50 BMG, I made sure the Chrony was 12' from the muzzle (I was afraid I might blow up the Chrony just from the bullet going close to it, but it didn't - in fact, it recorded every 12 shots). The only times I find that it does not record accurately is either from muzzle blast (the unit being too close to the Chrony) or my not following the instructions which are clear that on a cloudy day, the top plastic screens are not needed and on a perfectly blue, sunny day, the top plastic screens are needed to diffuse the light. Follow the directions, and you will have no problems. Just experiment a bit with it before you get too frustrated. I did order separately the pushbutton and it does come in quite handy. On more than one occasion, I forgot to jot down the bullet speed, so I just went back, pushed the button a number of times and came back to the shot that I forgot to write down. If you do get the switch with cord, it comes with an 8' long cord, which is way too long. You only need to plug it into the monitor readout that is on the shooting bench. Changing the cord to a shorted cord is simple. Go to Radio Shack and purchase a shorter cord (it merely has a small stereo plug on each end and is essentially a stereo patch cord). Out of, say 300 rounds fired over it, about five did not register (mainly because the skies changed while shooting after I originally had it all set up). For the price, you definitely cannot go wrong.

It's a good choice for a low cost chronograph. I drag it to the range and I'm not really that easy on it, but it's tougher than you think. Should come with the push button remote switch, but they are easy to make.

Excellent product. Before you take it to use it on a tripod, take a 1/4" x 20 tap and re-tap the painted threads in the tapped hole in the bottom. I went to the field with my camera tripod to set it up and needed pliers to get the tripod screw to even start. After I came home, I researched and found that it is a 1/4" x 20 hole. I just re-tapped the hole and the tripod screw now goes in easily all the way with just two fingers. I also rigged up a momentary contact switch to use for the stereo jack and after about 20 minutes of playing around with it (and seeing that it is beneficial at reviewing the shots fired), I ordered the Chrony F1 Master pushbutton switch from Midway. I realize the switch has an 8' cord, but with the digital readout box on the shooting bench (which is where the switch plugs in), who needs a longer switch cord?

Very portable, great finish on the THICK metal case, but ever so slightly pickey on the lighting, but not terrible at all. Way better than I expected it to be. Cord length is just long enough to use as suggested. Everyone doing there own reloads should have a decent chronograph such as this.

I've been using this chronograph for years for years. As a reloader, it gives me everything that I need and then some. A brief warning, for the price it is great, but the sky screen tend to get brittle after 10 years or so.

Used a buddy's "chrony" and liked it so I ordered one for myself. About the only downside I have found with this unit is that the rods that hold the plastic screens could be more robust in design. The rods like to fall out after 5 shots from a .223 (chrony set 12 feet from muzzle) and after 2-3 shots from a .308. A little tape would probably do the trick. For the price, its a great deal. However, if you like bells and whistles and have a problem with math and averages, then spend mondo-bucks on a competitor. I have no problem writing down the velocity of each shot since I am gathering data anyway when using the chrony at the range. The remote display is a must. Makes readings much more visible. Simple, portable, accurate, reasonably affordable. Need I say more?

I've had no problems with this chronograph. From heavy rifle loads to air rifles, it has always done the job. If you want to figure out the high-low spread, and average... it's called a pencil, paper and a calculator!

I had never used a chronograph before and I had it set up and working in about 15 minutes. It was a little tricky to figure out correct height the bullet had to pass over the unit. After I got that figured out, it worked flawlessly.

Tested this thing with everything from my pellet rifle to my 50BMG and it reads great. The thing is a little picky about lighting and will give inconsistant numbers if the lighting changes a lot. Also go ahead and use some tape on the rods and a couple dabs of super glue on the screens to save yourself some headache of them falling apart, which they only did under the torture of the 50. I reload and as long as I kept in good light it read all within 10fps for my reloads.

I have fired a lot of bullets through one of these, you better put the sun shields on or it probably will not read. For some reason it has a problem with my .204 32gr hornady bullets will not read all of them.

Good chronograph for the price. Just a few problems. First, it can be finicky occasionally about registering the shot - mostly due to lighting conditions. Second, I absolutely hate the sectional rods that hold the screens over the unit. At the suggested distances from the muzzle, the rods still receive too much muzzle blast and sometimes fall apart like a stack of cards. Simple tape will take care of the problem. The display on the bench unit is fine for me. The fact that the unit is relatively small and packable to the range is a nice benefit as well.

While the price is right, the documentation that comes with the Master Chrony is some of the worst I've ever seen. What's worse is that a "remote control," actually a simple pushbutton connected to a small phono jack by a long wire, isn't included so you don't have access to edit each shot in a string nor can you see the high, low, spread and standard deviation. And don't bother with the horrible web sight, it must have been designed by the same person that tried to write the documentation. What a let down...

Failed to read a single shot, it either gave an error or .22lr speeds from 250 to 2000 fps for the same batch. Did not like the sky screens as the 3 piece plastic tops kept falling apart so finally returned it for a refund while considering an alternative unit. Excellent service from Midway.
