Aimpoint CompM4 sights are the finest sights that Aimpoint has ever produced. The improved energy efficiency provides up to 8 years of continuous use from a single AA battery! CompM4 sights incorporate an integral mount that eliminates the need for a separate ring and can be customized with vertical and forward spacers to fit a variety of firearms. They can also be used by hunters and sport shooters that need night vision compatibility. CompM4 sights are available in two versions. The two versions are identical except that the CompM4 offers a high battery compartment, while the CompM4S offers a low battery compartment. The CompM4 is now the latest version of the US Army's M68 CCO (Close-Combat Optic), continuing a legacy that Aimpoint has maintained since 1997. The performance of the CompM4 sights is optimized for use with all generations of Night Vision Devices (NVDs), but is especially suited for 3rd generation night vision technology. Aimpoint's unique band-pass coating on the front lens reflects select frequencies of red light at near 100% efficiency in order to give the highest possible dot brightness with the smallest amount of energy while transmitting nearly 100% of light in the Infrared and near-infrared part of the spectrum to provide the clearest, brightest image possible when used with a 3rd generation NVD. With 7 NVD-compatible brightness settings and 9 Daylight settings including one extra-bright setting, the CompM4 and CompM4S are ready for use around the clock.

This is a wonderful product! I'm a security forces airman in the USAF and I carry the m-68 six days a week at least. The battery life is astounding to me. Very fast target acquisition and the ability of "both eyes open" shooting makes it indespesable when clearing buildings, especially when there are no lights. I've depended on this product more than once to keep myself and my team alive and have never doubted that it would perform to those standards. This is one thing the military did not go cheap on and i'm not talking about its price tag. Very rugged and does the job it's designed to do. Looks good too.

For years I've toyed with getting an Aimpoint but the battery type kept putting me off (most of my gear runs on AA's). I was pleasantly surprised to learn of the CompM4 which runs on a single AA battery; 8 years of 24/7 use. The CompM4 is an evolutionary (not revolutionary) upgrade of the excellent M2/M3 series. It has more daylight settings than the M3 with the last being extra bright. The integral QRP2 quick detachable mount is a big improvement over the original QRP with proper torque being set automatically. A detachable riser is included to make the CompM4 compatible with different platforms. The included bikini lens covers are very rugged and do an excellent job of keeping the elements out but aren't particularly fast or easy to attach or remove. The windage & elevation caps are better protected as is the brightness control and the reference line on the brightness control is a nice visual aid for determining the approximate brightness setting. The included ARD killflash does block unwanted reflections and protects the front lens from flying debris but at the cost of a minor decrease in brightness and clarity. If you already have an Aimpoint or other quality optic that you're happy with then the CompM4 may not be worth upgrading to for you. However, if you're in the market for a new quality optic that's a complete "one box" solution then the CompM4 is definitely worth considering. Overall I rate it 4.5 stars only because the bikini lens covers are somewhat slow & difficult to use quickly.

I use this optic often, as a member of the army, we use it in weapons qualifications. I think the sight is fantastic when used for that type of application. The only problem I have with this sight is that it is a little quarky to zero, and also that the eye parallax correction isn't true inside of 50m. Once outside a 50m shot, this site is unbeatable! Most building clearing ops are well under 50m limits, so it isn't quite as accurate as an Eotech for that purpose. Quick target acquisition, and quick to put the target down. The battery life is finally useful on a standard single AA battery. This optic is tough, and holds a zero well (once finally on- it stays on).

As an Army Infantryman in a Recon platoon I've had several years of experience with this optic during deployments in combat. The Aimpoint is good as long as you don't plan on ever actually using it it. Since the Army has fielded these optics our unit has had nothing but problems with them losing zero. When they work, they work fine I just find I don't trust them to retain zero. After seeing the massive problems we had in Iraq with these optics losing zero I would only recommend them for target shooting. It does work great for qualifications but I wouldn't trust my life to one of these sights. We have gone to ACOGS and EOtechs and haven't had the problems we had with the Aimpoints. Our unit puts our weapons through their paces and we have found there are better options if you are actually going to use your weapons as they were intended to be used, to engage and destroy the enemies of the United States of America in close combat.
