Hard hitting round
Used these on a recent Nilgai hunt in south Texas. Our guide was a little hesitant about 300 win mag not being enough gun. Two one shot kills and even he was impressed. One broadside with a complete pass thru leaving about a baseball sized exit. The other, a frontal shot. Did not find the bullet but it made it thru the lungs, liver, and diaphragm. Neither animal took a single step after being hit.- Brad, 4/23/2022

About Berger Bullets
In 1954, competitive Benchrest shooter Walt Berger saw that the bullets he could buy off the shelf were not up to his quality expectations. Loaded with the most advanced all-range hunting bullet available, Precision Hunter Ammunition sets a new standard of accurate, deadly and dependable hunting performance. Your trophy has never been closer– even if it’s far away! Featuring the radically superior ELD-X bullet with patented Heat Shield tip, Precision Hunter will soon be the “go-to” load for ANY hunting situation because of its effective terminal performance at ALL practical ranges.
The Heat Shield tip of the Hornady ELD-X bullet defies the effects of aerodynamic heating and retains its shape to provide a perfect meplat (tip) that is always the same shape. A streamlined secant ogive with optimum boattail design, plus the highly concentric AMP bullet jackets, combined with the patent pending Heat Shield tip creates a supremely accurate, high BC match bullet. ELD-Match bullet BCs are measured with Doppler radar and corrected to standard atmospheric conditions. With high velocity, 0-400 yard impact, the bullet continually expands throughout its penetration path. The thick shank of the jacket and high Interlock ring keep the core and jacket together providing 50-60% weight retention. Upon low velocity, 400+ yard impacts, the Heat Shield tip drives backward into the bullet to initiate expansion. Exhibiting conventional expansion with a large mushroom and 85-90% retained weight the bullet provides deep penetration and large wound cavities. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases.
Features
- Heat Shield Tip forms the perfect meplat
- No tip deformation from aerodynamic heating
- Match accurate hunting bullet
- Devastating terminal performance at all ranges

Nowhere to Run!
After reading about Hornady's research into bullet degradation and profile drag increase due to aerodynamic heating, and trying a box at the range, I was impressed enough with their accuracy to use them on a South African safari. During a 2016 Eastern Cape & Karoo hunt I scored seven trophies with seven shots: a 220 yard stationary broadside at a Blue Wildebeest; 140 yard stationary frontal shot at a Waterbuck; 110 yard moving broadside at a Warthog; 160 yard stationary frontal shot at a Springbok; 110 yard standing frontal shot at a Black-backed Jackal that made the mistake of stopping to look back; an uphill 250 yard standing broadside on a mature Mountain Reedbuck; and a 195 yard moving broadside on a Zebra stallion. The Warthog, Jackal, and Zebra went down at the shot; while the Waterbuck, Mtn. Reedbuck and Blue Wildebeest ran only a short distance before going down for good. In most cases the rounds went completely through the animals but on the two bullets I did recover, the expansion and weight r...- Safari Guy, 10/29/2017

VOR-TX LR is an extreme-distance load combining super-premium components that are assembled with a level of precision never before attained in factory ammunition. VOR-TX LR achieves match-grade accuracy and unmatched terminal performance on game at close and extreme distances delivers the quick, clean, ethical kills you’ve come to expect from Barnes. Distance can change all it wants. The terminal performance of VOR-TX LR never will. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer-primed, reloadable brass cases.
The Long-Range X Bullet (LRX) line is designed after the best-selling Tipped Triple-Shock X Bullet, the LRX bullet design increases Ballistic Coefficient values by increasing ogive and boat tail lengths to improve the bullets' long-range ballistic performance. For the hunter who is confident in long-range hunting, the LRX will fill the niche of this new hunting craze. LRX bullets will continue to be manufactured with the proven 100-percent copper, lead-free bodies. About Barnes
Barnes Bullets was founded in 1932 by Fred Barnes in Bayfield, CO. After 42 years in business, Fred sold Barnes Bullets to passionate hunters Randy and Coni Brooks who moved the business to American Fork, Utah. Randy and Coni were hunting brown bears in Alaska during the fall of 1985 when Randy conceived the idea of an expanding copper bullet. This prototype became the X Bullet, and its lineage continues today through five generations of improvement to the TSX, Tipped TSX, and LRX bullets you see today. Barnes Bullets produces a wide variety of components for the handloader, including lead-free and traditional lead-core bullets. Barnes also makes lead-free bullets specifically for muzzleloader hunting, in both hollow point and polymer-tipped versions. MidwayUSA also offers a comprehensive line of Barnes-manufactured ammunition including the popular VOR-TX product line.

Barnes bullets have historically had the reputation of offering quick, clean and humane kills. Now they are taking their highly regarded bullets to the next level loading them in ammunition.
Like its Triple-Shock cousin, the Tipped Triple-Shock bullet delivers the same "three strikes you're out" rule. Once as it strikes game, two as the bullet begins to open and a third impact when the cavity fully expands to deliver extra shock with maximum transferred energy. The added polymer tip creates a faster expansion rate as well as better long range ballistics. Ideal for medium to large-sized game.
VOR-TX ammunition is manufactured to precise tolerances to ensure excellent accuracy and consistent velocities. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer-primed, reloadable brass cases.

Performance on an Alaska Yukon Moose
I used this round moose hunting in Alaska this September. The temperature was in the low 50's with very little wind. The distance was 427 yards across a low brush meadow. The first shot was quartering away and hit the big bull right behind the shoulder causing it to spin 180 degrees and then I quickly shot a second time and the 2nd round was in line with the first but 5 inches lower. The bull went down before I could send a 3rd round. I have always been happy shooting the Remington Core-Lokt bullets but after hearing great reviews about Barnes accuracy and knock down power I decided to give them a try. It was the most accurate 180 gr 300 win mag round I have shot through my Remington 700 ADL at the range so I switched and won't go back after this hunt. I hope this helps if you are considering these bullets.- Rifle Hunter, 10/16/2020
