The Colt New Service Revolver is one of the first of the large frame double-action revolvers. It was made in Hartford, Connecticut. It has a very generous sized hammer, but with a rather small spur. There is good checkering on the spur. The trigger is fairly wide and smooth. You can shoot double action or single action. This gun has a five-and-a-half-inch barrel with a fixed notch rear sight and a blade front sight. Colt introduced the New Service in 1898 and continued production through 1944, making a total of over three hundred and fifty thousand guns in eleven different calibers.
