Firearm Safety and Hunting Ethics

Hunting ethics is everyone's responsibility. Let's talk about ethical hunting.

An ethical hunter is a safe hunter, so always obey the rules of safe gun handling and make sure that others hunting with you do the same. There are always state game regulations and many times federal and local ones. Make sure you know and follow all of them. License requirements, seasons, bag limits, and tagging are just a few. Even regulations such as hunting next to a road vary from state to state. Not only do you need to know all the regulations involved, but you must insist that others hunting with you know them also. A hunter's code of ethics isn't just about following the law, it's about doing what's right and helping other hunters do the same.

If you're hunting on private ground, don't trespass--always obtain permission from the landowner first. As a hunter, you have the responsibility to make clean one-shot kills, so always practice until you have the skill to make a good shot. Know your target and what's behind it, and if you see or hear someone poaching or doing something illegal, it's your ethical responsibility to report them.

Remember hunting ethics is everyone's responsibility.
