The first rule of firearm safety is always the same: keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. Always keep the action open and the ammo in your pouch except when shooting.

Eye and ear protection is always required for shooters, scorers, trainers, and bystanders.

Always use the correct ammunition. Never get 12 and 20-gauge mixed up.

If there's a break in shooting while you're on the station with your gun loaded, immediately open the action and unload your gun until shooting can safely resume.

Always keep a lookout downrange, making sure there's no one in the line of fire. If everything is clear, call for the bird.

When you finish shooting the station, always open the action on your gun before walking away. Remember, on the skeet field, each of you is responsible for your own safety and the safety of the squad. Always think safety. If you're using a pump or semi-auto, never load more than two shells at a time,

and never use shot larger than seven and a half.

If your gun misfires, wait at least 30 seconds before ejecting the shell, always keeping the muzzle in a safe direction and never use alcohol or drugs before or while shooting.

Remember, firearm safety is your responsibility.
