When you're finished shooting and are ready to unload, always follow the basic firearm safety rules. Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction and keep your finger away from the trigger.

Never store a loaded firearm in a case or in a safe and don't bring a loaded firearm into the house. To unload a double action, push the cylinder release and swing out the cylinder.

Then press the extractor rod and remove all cartridges from the cylinder.

Now be aware most revolvers don't have manual safeties. A single action revolver takes a few more steps. Remember to keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction and make sure your finger is off the trigger. Open the loading gate pulling the hammer to half cock first if necessary.

Align the chamber with the loading gate and push the round out with the ejector rod then rotate the cylinder and repeat for each chamber until the gun is unloaded.

Rotate the cylinder and look closely to verify that it's empty. Put the ammunition back into its original box and store the firearm in a secure place away from children.

Remember firearm safety is your responsibility.
