When we hear the word Mauser, we naturally think of guns, and many of us would think about the famous Model 98 Military rifles used in both world wars. However, the Mauser plant also made many fine handguns. I've got a beautiful Mauser Model HSC semi-automatic pistol. The magazine release is on the bottom of the grip, and magazine removal is smooth and easy. There's a magazine safety on this gun and it cannot be fired with the magazine removed. The HSC is a double-action design with an exposed hammer. The magazine holds eight rounds. The slide closes automatically when the magazine is inserted. The thumb safety locks both the trigger and the firing pin. It has a 3 1/4 inch barrel with fixed sights. The Mauser model HSC was introduced in 1937 and production continued into the 1970s. This particular model was chambered for 32 ACP, but they also made them in 380. Field stripping for cleaning is a real snap. For a demonstration of field stripping and reassembly, be sure to watch the video above.
