Larry Potterfield will address businesses and organizations at this conference about achieving performance excellence on Thursday, May 5, at the Meadows Conference Center in Altoona, Iowa. In 2006, Potterfield challenged his organization with a goal to apply for and receive the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2009. In 2009, MidwayUSA achieved this goal with their first application for the award. Potterfield also founded the Baldrige Performance Excellence Group in Columbia, Missouri to further deploy the criteria to local organizations.

The Iowa Governor's Recognition of Performance Excellence Celebration brings together all segments of Iowa's economy to recognize and salute the applicants and recipients of the IRPE Award. The State's quality award program celebrates its 10th year in 2011. The purpose of the IPRE and the Baldrige Award process is to recognize best practices deployed by high achieving organizations in healthcare, education, service, manufacturing and nonprofit sectors.
